Earth Day: Glo x SeaTrees

At Glo, we care about the health of our planet and its inhabitants. Our planet is part of our WHY: We connect people through self-care so that, together, we can heal ourselves and our planet. We believe self-care = earth-care. More than ever, we are reminded of our interconnectedness not only with one another but with nature and our planet. In honor of Earth Day, we’d like to introduce our sustainability partner, SeaTrees. Our oceans have the power to heal our planet, and SeaTrees is working hard to restore and reforest them. We’re honored and excited to join them in their efforts.

The power of blue carbon ecosystems is fascinating. Blue carbon is stored in coastal and marine ecosystems, like mangroves and seagrasses. These ecosystems sequester and store large quantities of blue carbon in both the plants and sediment below. With the help of SeaTrees, we’ll be supporting their mangrove tree projects. Are you familiar with mangrove trees? They are considered a ‘miracle tree.’ Some benefits of the mangrove include:

Extremely efficient at mitigating CO2

Act as a powerful filter for water and air

Provide essential habitats for thousands of species

Protect shorelines from damaging winds and waves

Our planet’s wonders, beauty, and wisdom bring such awe and appreciation that it can be difficult to describe with words, but we feel it deeply. When we get caught in the day-to-day and busyness of our to-do lists, it can be easy to forget that we are part of something much greater than ourselves. We are part of a beautifully orchestrated dance that celebrates our interconnectedness with the natural world. We can forget who we are, that we are made of nature’s elements, made of stardust. Let’s recognize, embrace, and celebrate this magic in ourselves and others.
